Pete Egbert, Head Coach and Academy Director

Coach Egbert enters his eighth season at the helm of the Misericordia University baseball program. He has led the program to four consecutive conference titles and NCAA tournament appearances, including a #10 national ranking in 2012 and a 39-11 finish in 2013. During his tenure, Cougar players have rewritten the school’s record books, setting or tying more than half of the program’s single-season and career records. Egbert previously served as head coach at Fitchburg State College for five seasons and has coached at the NCAA Division I, II and III levels, garnering conference Coach of the Year honors five times. He earned a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Missouri and a master’s degree in physical education/athletics administration from Springfield College.


Andrew Bennett, Assistant Coach and Academy Assistant Director

Coach Bennett enters his fourth season at Misericordia University, where he coaches the hitters and infielders. During his tenure, Misericordia’s offense has attained national rankings in numerous categories, including runs scored and on-base percentage. Prior to arriving at Misericordia, Bennett served for two years as the head varsity baseball coach at Minneapolis South High School and for one year as an assistant at Hamline University. He earned All-Region and Academic All-American honors as a collegiate player and played two professional seasons. Bennett earned bachelor’s degrees in physics and mathematics from Hamline University and a master’s degree in organizational management from Misericordia University. He also teaches as an adjunct professor in Misericordia's business department.


Chris Tuttle, Assistant Coach

Coach Tuttle enters his third season on the Misericordia University staff and currently serves as the graduate assistant and recruiting coordinator. A former standout behind the plate, Tuttle works primarily with Misericordia’s catchers and hitters. As a player at Misericordia, he led the Cougars to back-to-back conference championships and served as captain during a senior season in which he emerged as one of the top defensive catchers in the region. Tuttle also played one season with the Seacoast Mavericks of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League. He earned an undergraduate degree in interdisciplinary studies and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in organizational management, both from Misericordia.


David Gargone, Assistant Coach

Coach Gargone enters his fifth season as a coach at Misericordia and tenth overall at the collegiate level. He played three seasons of college baseball at the University of Scranton and then spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Keystone College and two seasons as an assistant coach at Rockford College before coming to Misericordia. An assistant professor in Misericordia’s business department, Gargone has taught a wide range of sport management courses and helped numerous students secure internships and jobs with organizations throughout professional sports. A business management graduate of the University of Scranton, Gargone earned a master’s in teaching from Rockford College and a doctorate in sport management with a specialization in sport marketing from the United States Sports Academy.


Kenny Durling, Assistant Coach

Coach Durling enters his first season on the Misericordia Baseball coaching staff. A 2013 graduate of Misericordia with a degree in sport management, Durling ranks among the best players in program history, earning All-American honors in 2012 and setting numerous offensive records. He became the second player in program history to sign a professional contract after signing with the San Angelo Colts of the independent United League. A Rawlings Gold Glove winner as a collegiate center fielder, Durling coaches the Cougar outfielders and also assists with the hitters.
