Cooper Fouts comes to UVU after two seasons at Pepperdine University, where he helped the Waves to the West Coast Conference championship and a trip to the Palo Alto Regional at Stanford in 2012.

Fouts' playing and coaching career has taken him from Las Vegas to Lubbock, Texas to Malibu, California and now to Orem, Utah where he will enter his first year at Utah Valley University this fall.

"Cooper has a tremendous energy about him that really makes him an extremely likable person," Madsen said. "His outgoing personality lends to his ability to recruit and his high level of baseball knowledge and commitment to the game will benefit the continued success and growth of our program."

Prior to his stint in Malibu, Fouts spent four seasons at the College of Southern Nevada, where he played in 2002 before finishing his collegiate playing career at Texas Tech University.

While coaching at CSN, he worked with 2010 Golden Spikes winner and Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper. During his time in Las Vegas, the Coyotes won three Scenic West Athletic Conference titles, two Region 18 championships and a Western District championship and finished third at the Junior College World Series.

He's also coached at Lubbock Christian High School and the Las Vegas Baseball Academy and served as the camp director at the Dakota Ridge Skills Camp.

As a player, Fouts was drafted by the Oakland A's in the 2001 draft after an All-State career at Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas. He chose to attend college and after one season at Southern Nevada, played three years at Texas Tech.
